For issues in external hip rotation, single leg stance stability-balance, walking balance issues, instability sensation in the foot while walking, anterior hip impingement pain, side of the hip pain and more….

Might feel like a lot of unrelated issues, or it might be inefficiency in activating and keeping on the Lower Gluteus Maximus(LGM). The fibers that insert directly in to the femur and not the IT band.

To activate LGM do bending over at the hips in standing to 20-25 degrees of hip flexion, and not deeper, knees gently flexed/bent. Call it a short Romanian deadlift, a Good Morning exercise, whatever. Pay attention, you should start feeling your LGM working. Practice it few times a day for 15-20 slow reps. When you’ll able to really feel it each rep, i.e. you become aware of it -‘mind muscle connection’- then start thinking of it when doing other exercises for external hip rotation, walking, try keeping it on in single leg balance and anything else you had issues with in the hip-leg-foot area, maybe even the lower back and sacrum. It takes time and relaxed focus, don’t force it, invite it gently.
